Type Rating Training: EC120

EASA-Approved Type Rating Courses 

The EC120 Type Rating course provides pilots with the skills and knowledge necessary to safely operate this single-engine turbine helicopter in both normal and abnormal scenarios under VMC.

Course variants:

Initial Type Rating (ITR)

Additional Type Rating (ATR)

Requirements:

Valid Part-FCL PPL(H), CPL(H), or ATPL(H)

Class 1 or 2 Medical Certificate

Radio Telephony Operator Certificate with Danish or English Language Proficiency

SET(H) rating required for ATR applicants

Training content:

Theoretical Training:

  • Optional 3 hrs VEMD module
  • Topics: aircraft systems, limitations, emergency procedures, performance, W&B, VEMD, optional equipment
  • Internal school exam: 50 questions, 75% minimum

Flight Training:

5 hrs (ITR) / 3 hrs (ATR)

Includes emergency training: autorotation, hydraulic failure, fenestron control, servo-transparency

Pre- and post-flight briefings and performance assessments

Assessment:

Final Skill Test required for both ITR and ATR candidates

Special emphasis areas:

Autorotation & engine-off landings

Simulated hydraulic failure procedures

Use and handling of twist grip throttle

Fenestron tail rotor characteristics

Performance under various load and environmental conditions
