Course options:

We offer three distinct TRI/SFI training programs on the AW169:

TRI (SP-FSTD) – Single-Pilot Operations, including simulator

TRI/SFI (MP-FSTD) – Multi-Pilot Operations, simulator-only training for TRI or SFI certification.

TRI (Landing Training) – Requriments for landing training previledges

Each course is type-specific and structured in accordance with EASA standards and operational demands.

General prerequisites:

Valid CPL(H) or ATPL(H)

Compliance with FCL.915.TRI or FCL.915.SFI

Flight experience specific to SP or MP ops

Teaching & Learning module (external or credited)

TRI (SP-FSTD) – Single-Pilot Training

EASA-Approved Instructor Course – Leonardo AW169

This course is designed for experienced pilots aiming to become Type Rating Instructors (TRI) for single-pilot operations on the Leonardo AW169. It provides comprehensive training in both Full Flight Simulator (FFS) focusing on the unique demands of single-pilot instruction.

Outcome

Upon successful completion, candidates will be certified as TRI(H) for SP operations on the AW169, authorized to conduct instruction in the simulator. The course equips instructors with the tools to deliver high-quality training and maintain the highest standards of safety and performance.

Target Audience: Future instructors operating in single-pilot environments

Flight Training: 6 hours FFS

Briefings: 1.5 hours per session (pre- and post-flight)

Total Duration: Approximately 19.5 hours

Training focus areas:

Effective CRM and TEM strategies in non-multi-crew environments

In-depth coverage of AW169-specific systems and emergency procedures

Scenario-based exercises that emphasize fuel and automation management, workload distribution, and cockpit decision-making

Autorotation Procedures and low-altitude handling

CFIT prevention using enhanced situational awareness tools

Performance Monitoring and Management

Cockpit Alerting System (CAS) logic and display interpretation

Use of the Electronic Display and Control Unit (EDCU) and FMS in a single-pilot setting

Entry requirements:

Valid CPL(H) or ATPL(H)

Completion of a Teaching & Learning module (external or credited)

TRI/SFI (MP-FSTD) – Multi-Pilot Training

EASA-Approved Instructor Course – Leonardo AW169

This course is designed for experienced pilots who aim to become Type Rating Instructors (TRI) or Synthetic Flight Instructors (SFI) for multi-pilot operations on the Leonardo AW169. It focuses exclusively on Full Flight Simulator (FFS) instruction, ideal for instructors operating in training organisations or airline-style environments.

Outcome

Upon completion, TRI candidates will be qualified to provide simulator-based instruction for multi-pilot operations on the AW169. SFI candidates will receive privileges according to EASA Part-FCL once all FSTD experience and recent flight deck requirements are met.

This course is ideal for instructors looking to specialise in high-fidelity simulation environments where real-world mission complexity and human factors can be explored in depth.

Flight Training: 10 hours FFS (5 sessions x 2 hours)

Briefings: 1.5 hours per session (total 17.5 hrs including briefings)

Privileges (TRI): Restricted to FFS instruction

Privileges (SFI): Must meet recent flight deck experience requirements

Training focus areas:

Instructional techniques for multi-crew SOPs and CRM principles

Scenario-based training in automation management, systems failures, and abnormal operations

Development of decision-making skills, workload distribution, and communication techniques for MP crews

In-depth knowledge of AW169 systems including FMS, CAS, HTAWS, and autopilot functions

Training areas of special emphasis (TASE):

Autorotation Procedures and low-altitude handling

CFIT prevention using enhanced situational awareness tools

Performance Monitoring and Management

TRI (HELO) – Landing Training Course

EASA-Approved Instructor Course – Leonardo AW169

This course is designed for experienced pilots who seek to become Type Rating Instructors (TRI) for multi-pilot and single pilot operations on the Leonardo AW169. It combines high-fidelity training in the Full Flight Simulator (FFS) with practical instruction in the live aircraft (HELO), offering a complete pathway to instructional proficiency.

Outcome

Upon successful completion, candidates will be certified as TRI(H) with landing training privileges, with privileges to conduct instruction in both the in the helicopter. This course is ideal for instructors engaged in operational training environments that demand both simulator and hands-on instructional delivery.

Key course details:

Target Audience: TRI candidates that seeks landing training privileges

Flight Training: 2 hours FFS + 2 hours live aircraft (HELO)

Briefings: 1.5 hours per session (total course duration approx. 7 hrs)

Training focus areas:

Instruction in helicopter, covering full range of AW169 operational profiles

Emphasis on CRM, TEM, and realistic flight scenarios

Advanced system integration and handling under normal and abnormal conditions

Live training in performance Class 1 profiles, OEI procedures, and handling characteristics

Development of briefing and debriefing skills, crew coordination, and instructional technique

Training areas of special emphasis (TASE):

Incorrect helicopter configuration

Over controlling

Incorrect control inputs

Excessive flare close to the ground

One-engine-inoperative take-off and landings

Incorrect handling of autorotation

Static or dynamic rollover on take-off or landing

In high-density operational contexts
